Barefoot Messiah is the solo recording project of Chicago-based bassist, Shawn "Bud" Lyte (Chill Factor-5,
Havent, The Statistics, Ystu Elee', Teenage Voodoo, BFD, Sound Mine).
In addition to Barefoot Messiah,
Bud is active in projects with various artists.

Recorded October through December 1999, released on
New Year's Day 2000
andstill circulating
today, 'The Acid
Controversy' is an effectively eclectic and inviting all-instrumental
collage of hard rock, jazz, Latin and new age
music.
'The Acid Controversy'has captured the ears
and minds of progressive music fans via jukeboxes, airplay and webcasts from Hawaii to Holland,
Edmonton to Edinburgh, Kingston to Kyoto, Chile to China, and many points in
between.
The only live
performances of these songs have featured Bud performing solo, with a couple of random musicians or
a backing track. Rumor has it that some of the songs may be re-recorded for 'This Side of
Heaven'.

 |
'This Side of
Heaven' was to be released in 2002, but Bud put the project on
indefinite hold to pursue interests in sports and
e-commerce.
After re-connecting with Maurice Oliver to record with Chill
Factor-5, Bud's interest in recording and performing was (eventually) renewed and the second
Barefoot Messiah album is back in production.
Full-time
production will resume in 2011 with guest performers expected to include Maurice Oliver,
Tony Salinas and Jason "Dr. Groove" Halla.

 |
'Genesis
Theory' is the tentative title of the third Barefoot
Messiah album.
Bud has not
shared much information about this project, but we do know that it will contain songs composed
during early sessions but not recorded.
No completion or release date has been given as
of yet.
